Georgia Fair
Hailing from the urban and suburban streets of Sydney, Georgia Fair consists of two talented musos, Ben Riley and Jordan Wilson. The lads produce the kind of swoony, cruisy indie folk that makes you yearn for days by the beach, reading and lying in the sand with just your guitar and thoughts for company.
The band’s self-titled debut album is filled with acoustic tracks with uplifting melodies, and rarely a sad note. The soft vocals combined with some pretty excellent finger-picking skills make for an all round great listen, reminiscent of The Beautiful Girls, or Joshua Radin.
Georgia Fair shot to success after a Sony A&R rep discovered them at one of their shows, and was instantly impressed. They were whisked off to North Carolina to record their album, and there are certainly themes of travel and progressions lingering throughout their music.
Having recently finished touring with Lisa Mitchell, Georgia Fair are set to become an Australian favorite, certain to please ears on quiet evenings and mornings alike.

Gypsy and the Cat
Gypsy And The Cat blend electronica, rock and pop to create a mishmash of music that is transfixing to say the least. Comprised of two strapping lads, Lionel Towers and Xavier Bacash, the band has received a lot of hype and great reviews, and a listen to their Myspace page will tell you why.
Having released their first single, ‘Time to Wander’ on the 21st of June, the talented Melbourne duo were snapped up by indie label, Young & Lost, and relocated to London to mix their debut album.
Gypsy And The Cat’s ‘Jona Vark’ got a significant amount of radio attention, and can only be described as addictive. These two bright lads have certainly managed to nail making the perfect pop track.
The band is currently touring through July here in Australia, gracing audiences with their ethereal tracks.
Definitely check them out if you like music that makes you swoon, and musicians who have a similar effect.

Tim & Jean
Tim & Jean are the kind of talented people that make you feel rather inadequate in comparison. At just 15 and 18 years of age, the duo are already producing synth-pop music that is catchy, energetic and making the rounds on the radio.
Jean Capotorto and Tim Ayre say on their Triple J Unearthed page that they ‘started jamming one night and have not turned back since’. Would that such natural talent ran in my veins but alas, as it doesn’t, I’ll simply have to console myself by listening to their first single, Come Around. The track is already a hit, and has landed them a spot at Splendour In The Grass this month.
These guys are definitely ones to watch – I predict a synth-pop takeover coming soon!

Papa Vs Pretty
Thomas Rawle can be described as somewhat of a genius. The brainchild behind the trio Papa Vs Pretty, Rawle writes and records all the tracks himself at home, and performs with band members Gus Gardiner and Tom Myers. Oh, this is in between completing his high school education – talk about multi-tasking.
Papa Vs Pretty keep things old school, dabbling in a range of genres stretching from funk to electronica, with a good blend of indie rock in the middle.
The band has already created some serious waves in the music world that has seen them score live spots next to the likes of Phoenix, The Temper Trap and You Am I. With the imminent release of their second EP, due out in August, I’m guessing a tsunami will hit next.
