Giveaway: Fish Tank Tickets – CLOSED

Fish Tank is British film director, Andrea Arnold’s second feature film. After winning an Oscar for her short film, Wasp in 2005, Arnold went on to make Red Road a story of surveillance, loss and revenge, which won the Cannes’ Jury Prize in 2006. Her latest film is set in an Essex estate and centres around a troubled 15-year old Mia (Katie Jarvis), who lives there with her younger sister, Tyler (Rebecca Griffiths) and her mum, Joanne (Kierston Wareing). Mia is a mixture of aggression and pain. She desperately wants to be a hip-hop dancer, but is awkward in all social situations. When Joanne’s new boyfriend, Connor (Michael Fassbender) shows Mia some positive attention, something she is unused to, her life begins to change.

Examining the complex and unsettling relationship between Mia and Conner, the film pulls no punches in its depictions of youth and poverty. With a very strong cast including many first-time actors, the film is powerfully raw, devastating and beautifully filmed.
