Because it’s the long weekend and because occasionally I cannot muster up the verbosity necessary for pithy introductions to talented men, the sensational band under the spotlight of our third Musication interview has saved me the hassle by introducing themselves. Read on to hear it from the horse’s mouth, why you should be at The Gaelic this Friday night, October 9th – and try not to fall just a little bit in love with Ziggie Flax.
Ziggie Flax is a rock band from Sydney, made of young men. They are possibly the biggest sounding and most passionate band of only three lads that you will ever see. They’ve played the best haunts of Sydney, such as the Gaelic Club, Annandale and Hopetoun, as well as in Melbourne, Newcastle, and Canberra, and blown audiences away with their song-writing, musicianship and mesmerising stage show.
They will soon be releasing their debut EP and taking over some small part of the world – perhaps your lounge room. But the best part is that they’re yours, Sydney.

We hail from … 2 x Sydney, 1 x Melbourne – is there any better cocktail on the planet?
You can liken our sound to … the feeling right before love and just after sex.
Our influences are …a mix of rock, melody, hard rock, a great tune, heart attacks, and tousled sheets.
Our drink of choice … is a band-member blend of beer, bourbon, and heavy, deep shiraz – depending on who, when, and where.
Musication means … that people in Sydney are excited about the sounds of their city; that there is amazing music in this city, and that the scene can thrive as long as there is great music to go around and the people to support it. It is so easy these days to be blasé about where to find music and how much it means to you – with Musication, you realise that it is all under our very nose, and full of pleasure, and we need but sniff it out. Without you and your ears, listening and enjoying, without your support, none of this can happen.
Sydney‘s music scene is … an up-and-down beast. It can be inspiring one night and under-nourished the next. There are just so many acts, and so many good ones, and sometimes not enough venues or audience to go around. One thing is for sure though: we are lucky to have such interesting, moving, and high quality music in our own city, we just need to band together to put the word out on the whole party. Which is really what Musication is all about…
Get behind it because … if you don’t we will track you down and make you wish you had – possibly with the use of an ice cream or at least a paddle pop stick. Either or. In all truth though, you should get behind it because there are few things more worthwhile in life than a) loving great music, and b) knowing that you spread that music near and far. We love making music, and we love your responses to it, so “Get thee behind me, Satan!”, and enjoy the passion of it all. It is nothing without you, good people.
