Dear Trespassers,
This is arguably the best time of the year for Australians. It is summer and thus beach weather, most of you have some much needed time away from work and we deem it mandatory to drink to excess, eat to excess and be excessively merry. The New Years count is on and for some, the best part is yet to commence – that being festival season. Festival season means (among many other activities) impressive musical line ups, infectious tunes and big beats.
So this week I’m paying homage to festival season and sharing 5 super catchy summer tunes that offer a fantastic soundtrack to summer 09.
Well, I think the title is self explanatory. It is very fitting for the festival season. We are loving the clean piano, catchy chorus and smooth female vocals. Guaranteed to be a summer anthem. Check him out at the Odyssey Festival in Queensland and supporting Lupe Fiasco late January.

2. Lady GaGa – Eh Eh (nothing else I can say)
Oh look love her or hate her…she knows how to make a tune stick in your head. This is Lady GaGa’s third release off her CD, The Fame. The song is
reminiscent of music circulating late 90′s but just so damn catchy.
For those of you who enjoy their electro pop, then you are going to love the MusicOz Awards Artist of the Year. The Transients pay a lot of attention to creating their brand of unique electronic music with catchy pop melodies and tight polished production. Currently they are unsigned but are turning a lot of
heads in the music industry. Hear them at the Summerdayze Festival and Good Vibes this summer.

4. Jay Z ft Santogold – Brooklyn Go Hard
This is the 3rd single released off Jay Z’s forthcoming 11th studio album, The Blueprint III. We are loving the heavy drums and the loud organ synthesizer setting a perfect canvas for Jay Z’s impeccable lyrics and Santogold’s unique vocal stylings. Santogold will be performing at the Future Music festival this year.
Jess the Film Editor opened my eyes to this New York band. You can’t help but find these four uni mates endearing. Their sound is an unusual mix of Brit-pop and New-Wave with an African influence as well. Whatever you classify their sound, it just works. Their lyrics are refreshing, clever and witty. Go listen to Oxford Comma and Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa too.
Next week we are back into full swing, 2009 is set to be huge. Look out for a spotlight on a Trespass fave Andy Bull next week, a look at Maroon 5′s new project and a whole lot more.
Happy New Year Trespassers!
Dee xx
