Where did the midconception that people used to meause their success later in life, at their 40s or 50s, arise? I'm sure that, like us, previous generations have always felt a lacking in their life if they weren't married or had a great job by a certain age.

Above anything else, as you age, you want to make SURE that you can always look back at your 20s in a golden (champagne soaked?) light. They are the good old days, no matter what comes down the track (better days? wiser days? all sorts of days).

i am heading past the "mid" twenties at the end of the month to a ripe old age of 26! i can't think of anything better than getting older...the fun and frolicking that life has to offer right now will never be matched down the track. A mortgage, a partner and potential children will make sure the 20's flashbacks are referred to as "the good old days"!!

great article -- I think everyone needs to stop obsessing about where they should be and what they should have, especially our beautician friends who seem to always be so young and yet so deeply insightful.

Livvy I totally agree. Although the claims at being early twenties is clutching at straws - we’ve both mid-twenties. Tough times.

Nice analogy. Keep enjoying the journey and don't worry about the destination (especially at 24!).

I whole heartedly agree green is the place to be. I will turn 25 in a months time and am certainly still working through trial and error and hope I will be for a long time to come. What fun will be left if we've got it all figured out so early? Success or failure I'm enjoying every minute of this journey.

I turned 25 some time ago and had a bit of a quarter life crisis. At 25 I had the dream job, long-term partner, on track for the mortgage etc and it scared me witless. By 27 I had chucked it all in, taken off to London via India and now at 37 I have no regrets. And, because I had a quarter life crisis at 25 turning 30 was a breeze!
