The Small Matter of… Time to Stop

There comes a certain point in life when some things, no matter how big or small they are, should just stop. Things you are completely and totally sick of. Things you’re over. Things you suddenly really dislike. Things that grate you. I decided to compile a list of things that I’ve had enough of. I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that a few of you may just be over them some of them too.

Things like …

  • Pigtails (Cindy Brady style) on twenty-four year olds.
  • Eating on the run.
  • The tea-bag breaking when you pour hot water in your cup. It has happened far too many times recently. Tea-bag makers, pick up your game.
  • Bad manners.
  • Unshaven armpits on middle-aged women at the gym. In fact, unshaven anything on middle-aged women at the gym. Keep it covered or keep it away.
  • Road rage from people who can’t drive (and cause all the road rage).
  • Self doubt.
  • Noise pollution generated by people that constantly moan and whine.
  • People writing ‘hope you’re well’ at the end of every email. Here’s what: if I wasn’t well, I probably wouldn’t be emailing you. (Note to self: must stop writing hope you’re well at the end of every email).
  • Those annoying leggings with the lace trimmed edges.
  • People always talking about the weather. Yes, it’s cold. Yes, the sun’s out. Yes, how about that wind. Riveting.
  • Glorifying untalented, pathetic, international celebrities in our news bulletins, in our newspapers, and in our magazines but failing to expose or support local talent.
  • Not knowing the city you live in…get out there and explore.
  • Excuses.
  • Ball busters. You know the people I mean? People that, for want of a better expression, just seem to bust your nuts. Constantly. The mere sight of them makes you want to run and hide.
  • Watching television every night…get out there and explore.
  • Supermarket chains selling two items for $4 when the individual item is $2 and calling it a saving. A dollar dazzler that does not make.
  • Ripping people off – whether it’s financially or creatively.
  • Masterchef. It was good. It’s now finished. Can we move on?

And now is probably a good time for this list to stop. But not without some help from you. What are you over? What’s grating you?
