Editor in Chief

Olivia Hambrett

Olivia Hambrett finds writing ‘About Me’ blurbs mentally exhausting and often cruel reminders that she cannot say ‘Olivia is a Booker Prize winning novelist who has penned several Academy Award winning screenplays. She lives in Santorini with Prince Harry/Seely Booth.’

She can, however, say she lives in Australia, for the time being, and she knows Seely Booth isn’t real. Olivia has her BA in Psychology – no, she cannot psychoanalyse you and attempts may be damaging – and her MA in Creative Writing, both from Macquarie University. People began to wonder if she’d ever leave, particularly her parents and the regular staff at the Coffee Cart.

She’s one of the founders and the current Editor in Chief of this fine magazine and she writes over on her blog (although she hates the word blog) A Big Life. She has had her writing, covering a variety of topics, published both in print and online, and in several documents for businesses large and small that have employed her copywriting skills. You can read all about that at here.

Olivia enjoys the Scandinavian pop scene, hot weather, collecting perfumes and getting on planes. There have been times she has considered the convenience of an intravenous tea drip, but decided against it – it would rob her of the ritual she so enjoys. Olivia cuts out her horoscope every week and organizes herself using post-its and scrap paper. She is almost always late. If you lose her, look under a pile of books, scrap paper and empty tea cups, or check her bank statements for any recent, rash plane-ticket purchases. Don’t try and call her, she’s probably lost her phone.

Lin Tan

Lin Tan is a Melbourne-based freelance writer who’s originally from Malaysia but spent her formative years living in London.  Her ‘tri-brid’ background (philosophy, business, chef) most likely explains her upstairs mix-up. She loves writing about everything, from reviews to opinion pieces to short fiction and poetry.  Her work can be found in Onya Magazine, GO, Beat, Acclaim, and some others she won’t bore you with.

When not writing, you’ll most likely find her doing something.  And when she talks, she has the propensity to say things.  Whatever profound things they may be, Lin will always stubbornly insist that she can, in fact, do the moonwalk (I assure you she can’t). One thing’s for sure, she’s never opposed to the idea of a new adventure, no matter how inconvenient the timing may be.  She hopes that writing will one day buy her some bread, or to build her Superman comic collection – preferably both.  Her online portfolio is www.lin-tan.com.

Film Editor

Beth Wilson

If Beth was going to choose an actor to play her in the movie of her life, it would have to be Philip Seymour Hoffman. That guy is just so damn talented and versatile!

To do this though he would have to fully immerse himself in the world of Beth, which revolves around film, music, books and travel. He would also have to learn some of Beth’s many talents, including; looking ridiculously good in hats (it’s a blessing and a curse), always picking out just the right greeting-cards and talking about herself in the third person.

Hoffman would of course need dialect coaching to grasp Beth’s southern English accent, which is a mixture of the Queen and a character from Eastenders. The style for the biopic would probably resemble some of Beth’s favourite films; JawsLa HaineWithnail & IGoodfellas and The Breakfast Club. Screw intelligent directing from the likes of Michel Gondry and Spike Jonze, the biopic Beth could be nothing less than a Michael Bay GDP-of-a-small-African-nation extravaganza!

Beauty & Style Editor

Romy Grbic

Auckland based Romy was always the kid with the ‘wacky’ parents. This used to be slightly embarrassing when bringing friends home from school, but has turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The 24-year old writer/beauty therapist, living in a house with optimal feng-shui, seems to be following in the footsteps of her slightly alternative parents and carving a road uniquely her own. One leading to self-sustainable living on a large farm with a big organic vegetable garden, and a very large makeup kit and wardrobe.

With a diploma in beauty therapy and a degree in sociology, Romy has taken her passion for learning, pretty things and writing and combined them into one, by creating her own website (www.rosecolouredglasses.co.nz) on which she blogs optimistically, in the hopes of making the world a better place, both aesthetically and environmentally.
