Trespassing with…Vladimir Moiseev & Lou Draper

This week, being Bright Young Things week, I went out in search of the hottest, most talented young things in my favourite field – the beauty arena. I was lucky enough to get to meet and talk to a very hot up-and-coming hair stylist, who just recently won a competition, which will lead him to working at the Air New Zealand Fashion Week. I also spoke to a very busy young lady, who has her hands in a number of different pots. She not only runs her own PR company, but is also a freelance makeup artist, among other things. Here is what I talked to them both about…

Name: Vladimir Moiseev

What I do: I’m a student at Servilles Academy of Hairdressing, working part time at Servilles Mission Bay and Takapuna

When I was little I wanted to: A bus driver

When I grow up I want to be: A stylist for Hollywood movies

My goal for the next two years: Get a full time position at Servilles salon, go for as many holidays to Italy as possible!

Next five years: Open my own salon, buy a house with a pool and a dog, and bring over my parents over to New Zealand from Russia.

Next ten years: Have my own brand in NZ, Australia, Russia and France

The first thing I do every morning is: I say,  “The miracle is going to happen today”

And last thing at night I: set my mobile on silent.

And my favourite thing to do to unwind is: Watching comedies, I just can’t get enough.

On Sunday’s I like to: Go for a drive around the city or the countryside with my friends – New Zealand has the most beautiful scenery.

I got my big break when: Just recently, I won a competition to work alongside some of the top NZ hair stylists – at Air NZ Fashion Week.

The advice I’d give Trespass readers is: Believe that everything is possible.

My top five beauty essentials are: The smile is the main thing for everything.

And I could not live without: Chocolate.

Name: Lou Draper

What I do: I’m an Entrepreneur. I run four businesses including a PR agency and I’m a freelance makeup artist too!

When I was little I wanted to: It changed daily, career choices included but were not limited to; builder, fashion designer, ballerina, car painter, car stereo installer, police and or fire service person and international translator, too.  Publicity, Makeup Artistry, Coffee and Spa Pool Party person, came a lot later!

When I grow up I want to be: Someone who spends at least half the year in New York and France.

My goal for the next two years: To have a business reason to spend at least half the year in New York and France.

Next five and beyond: Haven’t worked it out yet and I’m an entrepreneur and have a tendency to change my plans!  But I can guarantee whatever it is I’ll be loving it!

The first thing I do every morning is: Try and make sense of the notes I scribbled down in my notebook at 3am! /  cleanse my face twice with Karen Murrell Pure Honesty Cleanser!  Even though I don’t need to do it twice, it’s a habit from years ago!

And last thing at night I: Plan the next days activities / or if it’s been a late night, drink a large glass of water!

And my favourite thing to do to unwind is: I love walking! When I’m particularly stressed or exhausted, going for a walk is so invigorating!

On Sunday’s I like to: I work on Sundays, but in another world where I didn’t,  I’m pretty sure you’d find me drinking coffee in a café or shopping somewhere great!

I got my big break when: I decided that working for someone else in a full-time employee situation was probably not going to work out for me.  My big break came the day after I made that decision.

The advice I’d give Trespass readers is: We’re not here for a long time, so very seriously, if you’re thinking of doing something that will better your situation – get out there and just do it.  There is absolutely zero reasons why you should not do what you want always, and about a million why you should!

My top five beauty essentials are:

As mentioned above, Karen Murrell Pure Honesty Cleanser & Absolute Luxury Moisturiser

M.A.C. Fast Response Eye Cream

M.A.C. Paint Pot in Painterly

Blush – I love NARS  Blush Duo in Albatross and Torrid

Blink Tube Mascara

And I could not live without: M.A.C. Studio Fix Foundation – it’s amazing!

About Romy Grbic

Romy Grbic is Trespass Magazine's Auckland-based Beauty and Style Editor, and was always the kid with the ‘wacky’ parents. This used to be slightly embarrassing when bringing friends home from school, but has turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The 24-year old writer/beauty therapist, living in a house with optimal feng-shui, seems to be following in the footsteps of her slightly alternative parents and carving a road uniquely her own. One leading to self-sustainable living on a large farm with a big organic vegetable garden, and a very large makeup kit and wardrobe. With a diploma in beauty therapy and a degree in sociology, Romy has taken her passion for learning, pretty things and writing and combined them into one, by creating her own website (www.onefabulousday.wordpress.com) on which she blogs optimistically, in the hopes of making the world a better place, both aesthetically and environmentally.
